Director

MAGDA SKOMAL NYIRI  has been involved in theatre since childhood. After completing her BA/BS degree, majoring in Education and Theatre at Salve Regina University, she studied at the Stella Adler Conservatory in New York. Combining her love of theatre, teaching and activism, she formed Interactive Educational Theatre in 1993. This non-profit educational theater group reaches out to schools and correctional facilities, raising awareness of social issues. She’s a certified HIV/AIDS Instructor with the American Red Cross and the proud recipient of the State of Connecticut Commissioner’s AIDS Leadership Award and the Salve Regina University Alumni Achievement Award. She is currently project director for the award-winning Stop AIDS Mobile Theatre, and has written and directed Out Of the Closet, a cabaret celebrating diversity and supporting LGBTQ communities.
